[ACTIVE] Saint Paul Parks and Recreation offering extended Rec.Center hours due to cold and school closures

Jan. 27 - 3:15 p.m. - Due to the continued forecasted extreme cold temperatures for Tuesday, Jan. 28, and resulting school closures, the Parks and Recreation Department will again be offering extended hours at several recreation centers, as well as additional open swim time at the Great River Water Park. All city-operated recreation centers will be open for indoor-use on Tuesday, Jan. 28 during the following times:

Extended Recreation Center Hours Sites
Dayton's Bluff (800 Conway St.) - 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
El Rio (179 E. Robie St.) - 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Phalen (1000 E. Wheelock) - 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.
West Minnehaha (685 W. Minnehaha) - 12 p.m. - 9 p.m.

All-Day Recreation Center Sites
Battle Creek (75 S. Winthrop) - 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Edgcumbe (320 S. Griggs St.) - 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Hillcrest (1978 Ford Pkwy) - 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Linwood (860 St. Clair) - 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.
North Dale (1414 N. St. Albans) - 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Oxford/Jimmy Lee (270 Lexington Pkwy) - 6:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.

All Other Recreation Center Sites
Canvas/Hancock (1610 W Hubbard Ave) - 3-8 p.m.
Duluth & Case (1020 Duluth St) – 3-8 p.m.
Groveland (2021 St. Clair Ave) - 3-8 p.m.
Hayden Heights(1965 E. Hoyt Ave) - 3-8 p.m.
Hazel Park (945 Hazel St N) - 3-8 p.m.
Langford (30 Langford Park) – 2-9 p.m.
Martin Luther King (271 Mackubin St) – 2:30–8 p.m.
McDonough (1544 Timberlake Rd) – 3-9 p.m.
Merriam Park (2000 St. Anthony) – 3–8:30 p.m.
Northwest Como (1550 N. Hamline) – 3-8 p.m.
Palace (781 Palace Ave) – 3–9 p.m.
Rice/Teen Zone (1021 Marion St) - 3–8 p.m.
Scheffer (237 Thomas Ave) – 3–9 p.m.

Extended Open Swim Hours
Great River Water Park (Oxford Community Center - 270 Lexington Pkwy) - 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

In addition to all city-operated Recreation Centers being open for general public use, sites with S'More Fun programs will have all-day options available for parents who have previously signed-up for before or after school care.

All Parks and Recreation outdoor activities have been canceled for Monday, Jan. 27, and outdoor activities will again be canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 28 if the temperature and/or wind-chill are below -25. Any programs that take place at a Saint Paul Public School, or are dependent upon schools being session (ie. Rec. Check) will be canceled.

Participants with indoor activities scheduled for Monday, are reminded to be mindful of the weather and dress appropriately as they venture out.

The Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department will continue to monitor conditions and will reassess impacts to programming as new information becomes available.
