It’s long been known that swimming is great for your health, but the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department’s outdoor water parks just got healthier! Como Regional Park Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center are now offering healthy drinks and wholesome snacks on their new feature menu. The new menu includes refreshing beverages like fruit smoothies and coconut water, as well as nutritious snacks like fruit, baby carrots, nuts, and yogurt. “We’d been getting a lot of requests lately for healthier options, so we rolled out the new feature menu when we officially opened for summer in June,” said Aquatics Program and Facility Manager Tyler McKean. “So far we have received a lot of praise. People are really excited to see more fruits and vegetables on the menu and we have been told our prices are very reasonable.” The new feature menu was created in addition to the regular Poolside Café menu, which continues to offer traditional menu items like pizza and chicken tenders to give customers a wide variety of options. Como Regional Park Pool and Highland Park Aquatic Center both feature lap pools, diving boards, water slides, children’s activity pools, climbing walls, and a number of other fun water features. Both locations also offer swimming lessons. A visit to one of the water parks cost $5 for those under 48”, or $6 for anyone 48” or taller. A family of five can get in for just $20.
