Upon submission of the
application requirements to DSI, Animal Control Officers will inspect for the following:
- The owner has provided and maintains a proper enclosure for the dangerous animal.
- The owner has posted the front and rear of the premises with approved, clearly-visible warning signs.
- If the dog is outside a proper enclosure, it must be muzzled and restrained by a substantial chain or leash and under the physical restraint of a person 18 years of age or older. The chain or leash is not to exceed three feet in length.
- The dog must have a standardized tag identifying the dog as dangerous affixed to its collar at all times.
