Project Profile
Vision
The Central Corridor Development Strategy lays out the vision for the future of light rail in Saint Paul. The Development Strategy and more detailed station area plans for the University Avenue stations have been adopted by the City Council as part of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.  More detailed station area planning is underway for downtown Saint Paul, and will soon be beginning for the Western, Hamline, and Victoria stations. 

Timeline
The Metropolitan Council is in charge of the project timeline.

Construction Progress
The engineering and construction of the light rail line is organized by the Metropolitan Council.  The Metropolitan Council will make periodic updates on the construction progress.

Downtown Alignment
A wide variety of alternatives have been considered for a downtown alignment over the history of the Central Corridor light rail transit project.  For more information on how the downtown alignment was chosen, click here.  The Metropolitan Council's Web site has more information on the downtown aligment, as well as information on noise and vibration impacts

Parking
Parking is a major issue for the Central Corridor LRT project.  The City is exploring a number of strategies to address the loss of parking in the Central Corridor.
