Dog Fighting
Overview
Dog fighting in public and private locations in the City is prohibited, and is a
felony offense
.
Dogs which are clearly being used for, and trained to, fight are considered to be a public nuisance in the City and will be seized by the City.
Reporting Dog Fighting
If a dog fight is observed immediately contact the
Police
at 9-1-1.
If you are suspicious of dog fighting, contact
DSI
at (651) 645-3953 during business hours, or the
Police Department
at (651) 291-1111 during non-business hours.
Evidence of Dog Fighting
Evidence of fighting or training a dog to fight includes:
Fresh wounds
Scarring
Training apparatus (such as weights on a dog's collar)
Other fighting paraphernalia
