Definitions of the word diversity range from the traditional "race, gender and disability" to a new, broader definition, which includes all dimensions and all differences between individuals:

The City of Saint Paul values and appreciates the diversity of its employees and citizens. In Saint Paul, diversity is not limited to race and gender, but appreciates all human qualities. 

Saint Paul DiverCity is driven by such factors as demographic changes in Minnesota’s workforce and the need to tap the creative, cultural, and communicative skills of a variety of employees, while utilizing these skills to improve city policies, services, and customer experiences.
