Parking Issues and Strategies in the Central Corridor

Parking is emerging as a major issue in the Central Corridor.  While there is still much work to do to figure out how LRT will affect parking and what mitigation strategies will be used to lessen the impact, the City of Saint Paul is actively exploring a number of approaches to parking issues.

A new staff report prepared by the Central Corridor Project Office and the City of St. Paul, Mitigating the Loss of Parking in the Central Corridor, is now available (with attachments).

The parking management toolkit for the Central Corridor lays out short-, middle-, and longer-term strategies to address the loss of parking in the Central Corridor.

Over the course of the summer, City staff presented these strategies in a series of workshops along the Central Corridor.  This document contains the summary of those workshops.

The City has also recently funded a Neighborhood Commercial Parking Pilot Program to help mitigate the loss of parking along University Avenue. More information is available here.
