Minneapolis and St. Paul Police Collaborating on Walgreen’s Robbery Cases

Investigators from the Minneapolis and Saint Paul Police Departments have been jointing working to identify suspects in armed robberies of Walgreen’s stores that occurred in both cities.

On September 8, 2009 at 1:35 PM, Saint Paul police officers were called to the Walgreen’s store in the 1600 block of White Bear Avenue on the report that an armed robbery had just occurred. It was learned that two men had entered the store and that one of the men, who was armed with a pistol, had fired a single round into the ceiling and demanded access to the cash register. After getting an undisclosed amount of money from the register, the suspects fled.

On September 9, 2009 at 2:36 PM, Minneapolis police officers were called to the Walgreen’s store in the 3200 block of Lake Street East on the report of an armed robbery. Similar to the Saint Paul Walgreen’s robbery, two suspects entered the store, one armed with a handgun. The armed suspect fired a single round and demanded access to the register.

Investigators from Minneapolis and Saint Paul compared the robberies and video and photographic evidence from the stores and the incidents are believed connected.

The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. The suspects were described as black males, 18 - 25 years of age, 5’-9" to 6’-0", thin builds. Both suspects were wearing dark colored hooded sweatshirts. One suspect was wearing white tennis shoes with dark stripes on the sides.

Video and still photographs of the suspects were sent to local media outlets.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000.00 for information leading to identification and arrest of the robbery suspects.
