Program Highlights
Fire Play Intervention Program and Juvenile Fire Setting Intervention Program
This program is designed to intervene on child fire play and adolescent fire setting.

If you live in Saint Paul and would like to enroll your child in this free program, contact the Office of Public Education at (651) 228-6203.

Residents outside of Saint Paul can call the State Fire Marshal's Juvenile Firesetter hotline at 651-201-7200 or 1-800-500-8897.

Risk Watch
Risk Watch is a National Fire Protection Association program that addresses eight major injury risk areas for children. In 1998, Saint Paul was among the first communities to be distinguished as a Risk Watch™ Champion Community. 

Follow the Footsteps to Fire Safety Curriculum Video
This program focuses on preventing fire play among three to six year old children. Materials include a ten-unit curriculum suitable for use in any Preschool or Kindergarten classroom and a colorful still-motion video. The video is available in English, Hmong and Spanish translation.   

Look Hot? Stay Cool!
This program focuses on preventing juvenile arson among children ages 10 to 12. Materials include a presenter's guide, student workbooks and video, and a parent video.

Key messages in the program are:
  • Fires and burns are not accidents
  • Understand the facts about fire science
  • Bad things can happen if you play with fire
  • Help other kids stay away from fire setting
