SAINT PAUL – Mayor Chris Coleman announced today that Rich Lallier, who is currently serving as interim director, will become the new Director of Public Works.
"Rich has spent his career proving that he has the leadership and management skills to provide residents with the excellent level of service they deserve. I look forward to working with him to ensure that Public Works continues to keep our infrastructure safe, well maintained and growing," Mayor Coleman said.
“I am truly humbled and thankful to Mayor Coleman for his confidence in me and his willingness to appointment me to lead this outstanding department. It is with the utmost humility that I accept this opportunity to work side by side with the Public Works employees to build upon our past success and any challenges we have yet to face to ensure a bright future for Public Works, the City, and the residents we serve,” Rich Lallier said.
A graduate of Metro State University, Rich started working for Saint Paul Parks and Recreation in 1978 as a seasonal worker, recreation leader and lifeguard. In 1998, Rich became a parks operations manager, overseeing a third of the budget and developing an emergency response plan for the department. In March, he was appointed as interim director of Public Works.
