The Saint Paul Police Professional Development Institute
(PDI) is sponsoring an 80-hour course on POLICE MOTORCYCLE OPERATOR.
This intensive program will
develop the coordination, skill, and confidence necessary for the student to
operate a police motorcycle safely and efficiently. The course will cover
the following: machine nomenclature (Harley Davidson or Kawasaki), slow maneuvering, control braking,
curve negotiation, defensive driving techniques, law enforcement techniques,
and on/off road driving. Students will need to bring their department-owned
motorcycle helmet, eye protection, gloves (not fingerless), and over the ankle
boots. Upon successful completion, the students will be fully prepared
for on-the-job training with their own department. A minimum of 3
students is needed for this class to proceed.
