Special Weapons and Tactics Team

S.W.A.T. is a disciplined team of officers specifically trained in the use of specialized equipment and tactics. 

This team responds to incidents where the personal safety, property, or welfare of citizens is deemed critical in nature as a result of threatening or aggressive action by an individual or group.

Functions of the Team
  • Responding to hostage situations
  • Responding to barricaded suspect situations
  • Responding to sniper situations
  • Assisting with dignitary protection
  • Responding to warrant service
  • Responding to civil disturbances
  • Providing tactical training as needed
  • Responding when the Supervisor on the scene requests SWAT
  • Maintaining an on-going training program
  • Working with the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT)
