Mayor Coleman Statement on HRC’s Equality Index Score
Mayor Chris Coleman and Saint Paul HREEO Director Jessi Kingston released the following statements today regarding Saint Paul’s score of 96/100 in the HRC Municipal Equality Index:

“One of the most significant factors in making a strong, vibrant community is having a culture that welcomes all people. The diversity of our population in Saint Paul is one of its greatest assets and makes it such a desirable place to live, work and visit. We are proud in Saint Paul to value all people of all ages, races, economic status and sexual orientation, and Saint Paul’s high score on the HRC’s equality index is reflective of those values,” Mayor Chris Coleman said.

“HREEO’s work is centered around ensuring all people are treated fairly and have equal access to the same opportunities,” Saint Paul Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Department Director Jessi Kingston said.  “Saint Paul’s high HRC equality index score is reflective not only of our residents’ inclusive values, but the effectiveness of our hard work at HREEO. We are proud of this score, and thankful for the support of Saint Paul residents.”

The HRC Municipal Equality Index examines the laws, policies and services of municipalities and rates them on the basis of their inclusivity of LGBT people who live and work there.
