Day Care Food License
Overview

There are two types of Day Care Food licenses:
  • Daycare Food - Limited
    A day care facility where food preparation is limited to snacks. On-site preparation of potentially hazardous foods as defined in the Minnesota Food Code (4626.0020 subp 62) is not permitted.Snacks are foods that require limited, on-site food handling or service including, but not limited, to fruits, cereals, prepackaged bakery products, candy, and chips.
  • Daycare Food
    A day care facility where food is prepared and served on-site.

General Requirements

Contact the Zoning Section (651) 266-9008, Building Inspection (651) 266-9007 and Fire Certificate of Occupancy (651) 266-9090 for any other city zoning, fire, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, or construction permit requirements or approvals.

Any construction, remodeling, or alterations to a food establishment requires that plans and specifications be submitted to the Environmental Health Section for review and approval.

Inspections

This license requires inspection approvals from the Saint Paul Fire Department (Ph: (651) 228-6230), Licensing, (Ph: (651) 266-8989), and Zoning (Ph: (651) 266-9008).


Fees

The fee for a Daycare Food License is $109.00. The fee for the limited license is $55.00.


Expiration/Renewal

A Day Care Food License will expire one year from date of issuance and may be renewed annually.
