Ward 1 Vacancy
If you are interested in serving as an interim councilmember for Ward 1, the City Council will be accepting applications until May 31, 2013 at 4:30 PM. The City Council is looking for someone who does not intend to run for the office and is currently a Ward 1 resident. The interim councilmember will serve from July 10, 2013 to when the successor is sworn in (approximately November 20, 2013).

About the Council

In addition to their duties as Councilmembers, the City Council serves as the Board of Health and as the directors for the Public Library Agency and commissioners for the Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA). Representatives from the Council are members of the boards for the Saint Paul RiverCentre Convention and Visitors Authority, the Saint Paul Port Authority, the Joint Property Tax Advisory Board (JPTAC), and the Board of Water Commissioners.

Term of Office
Councilmembers are elected to a 4 year term. The current term runs through the end of 2015.
