The Bicycle Advisory Board will meet on the following dates through the end of 2009:  October 13th, November 10th and December 8th.

When:    5:30 P.M.

Where:   Oxford Recreation Center, 270 Lexington Parkway North, east of Central High School between I-94 and Marshall Avenue. (Time and location can vary.) Call (651)-266-6217 to verify.

April BAB Workshop:

The BAB workshop held on April 2, 2009 was a striking success in that it will provide direction for the BAB for the remainder of 2009 and well into the future.  Notes and pictures will be posted as they become available.

  • A citizen commissioner from the Saint Paul Parks & Recreation Commission
  • A representative from Saint Paul Smart Trips
  • 3 at-large members (must live or work in Saint Paul)
    • A staff member from Public Works
    • A staff member from Planning & Economic Development 
    • A staff  member from Parks & Recreation
    • A staff member from Saint Paul Police Department

Board Powers and Duties

  • Advise Mayor and City Council on safe bicycling
  • Promote a safe and connnected bicycle network in Saint Paul
  • Provide technical advice on safe bicycling
  • Encourage and support bicycling as transportation
  • Assist in promotion of Saint Paul biking events such as Saint Paul Classic Bike Tour
  • Promote providing bicycle support such as short and long term bicycle parking and way finding

Bicycles and the City of Saint Paul

Over the past few years, Saint Paul has been proactive in implementing bicycle facilities as part of improving transporation throughout the city.  Bicycle facilities help the City in its effort in its effort to make bicycling an integral part of daily life in Saint Paul, thereby helping to make our city the "most livable city in America."

Building infrastructure so that physical activity is more easily incorporated into the daily lives of Saint Paul's residents has tremendous health, economic, environmental and quality of life benefits such as: improved air quality, decreased carbon footprint, decreased noise pollution, a decreased need for space to accommodate vehicle parking needs and improved health from increased physical activity.
