Video: I Will Still Be Laughing - Soul Asylum

If there is one thing the St. Paul Saints know how to do it’s throw a party.  Invite talented people from all walks of life, open the gates to CHS Field and have a night no one will soon forget.  On All-Star Monday the Saints will go back-to-back-to-back with the iHeart Radio celebrity softball game, the American Association Home Run Derby presented by Select Heartland Chevy Dealers and, as part of St. Paul’s Year of Music (#STPSoundsPerfect), cap it all off with a performance by Minnesota’s own, Soul Asylum.  It’s all part of a two day event that culminates with the American Association All-Star Game, on Tuesday, presented by CHS.

On Monday, August 1 the gates open at 5:30 p.m. and festivities kick off with iHeart Radio Celebrity softball game from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  Some of your favorite Twin Cities personalities from K102, KDWB, KFAN, KOOL108, and Cities97, along with many of your favorite Twin Cities sports personalities, will show if their glove is as good as their gab on the airwaves and their bats are as good as their bluster.   Before the real athletes take the field to show off their muscle, fans will have the chance to enjoy a little music.

From 7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. the Chris Hawkey Band will bring its country tunes to CHS Field with such hits as “Favorite Song” and “North Country.”  The American guitar-driven rock band has opened for such acts as Counting Crows, Cheap Trick and Quiet Riot.

The best and brightest from the American Association will display their raw power during the Select Heartland Chevy Dealers Home Run Derby.  From 8:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. these sluggers will see how far they can hit it out of CHS Field as they try to claim the prize of league’s best slugger.

The night concludes with Twin Cities based, international recording artists, Soul Asylum thrilling the crowd from 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.  Soul Asylum is no stranger to Saints fans, having played at Midway Stadium in one of the first major concerts in the ballparks history in 1995.  The American alternative band formed in Minneapolis in 1981 (under the name Loud Fast Rules before changing to Soul Asylum in 1983) and went triple-platinum with their album Grave Dancers Union in 1992.  Their most recent album is Change of Fortune.
