The purpose of this order is to establish the responsibility for the protection and security of department property and physical plant.
During normal business hours unit supervisors are responsible for property under their immediate control.
During hours other than normal business hours, the watch commander and central patrol supervisor are responsible for all department property and the physical plant unless a unit has a supervisor in charge.
A report of damaged or missing property or report of damage to the physical plant shall be made on a general report and directed to the assistant chief in charge. If the damage involves the physical plant, a copy of the report shall also be directed to the building custodian.
If a person committing damage is sent to court, a copy of this report should be sent to the court. If the watch commander or a supervisor deems it necessary, photographs of the damage will also be taken.
