DWI Court

DWI Court was created in collaboration with the Ramsey County District Court.

The goal of DWI Court is to enhance public safety by holding repeat DWI offenders accountable using:

  • Technology
  • Judicial supervision
  • Treat Case management
  • Supplemental services

Eligible participants must:

  • Accept responsibility for their criminal behavior
  • Agree to complete community service hours within the community harmed by their criminal activity

A participant is active in DWI Court for at least 24 months and the program can accept approximately 60 participants. Participants make regular court appearances and participate in a substance abuse treatment program, attend a MADD victim-impact panel and are involved in intense court supervision. Individual case management is the foundation of the supervision component and requires intensive attentions to offender needs.
