Lilydale Regional Park Brickyard Area

Project Update

  • US SiteWork has been awarded the contract for stabilization of the North Knob Lilydale Regional Park.
  • Construction is anticipated to begin the week of June 25th.  Once construction begins, the contractor anticipates the project to take about 45 days, depending on weather and site conditions.
  • The Brickyard trail continues to be closed and the parking lot at the Brickyard area will be closed during construction

Status of the Brickyard Area

  • A community meeting was held with updates on the stabilization project on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 6:30 PM - 8 PM at Baker Recreation Center, 209 Page St W, Saint Paul, MN 55107.  View Lilydale North Knob Stabilization Meeting Presentation.
  • The stormwater management and slope-stability study has been completed (see documents posted under "Stormwater Management and Slope-Stability Study" below).
  • The Brickyard area remains closed while a series of action steps can be taken in response to a series of recommendations outlined in the study.
  • The action steps will result in a portion of the Brickyard and Brickyard Trail being able to reopen in the future.
  • Based on the findings of the study, ice climbing permits will no longer be issued in the Brickyard and access to various areas of the Brickyard will now be restricted.
  • Requests for fossil hunting permits are not being accepted at this time. No fossil hunting allowed as fossil grounds are currently closed. Please check the Parks and Recreation permits page for updates, or call the park permit office at 651-632-5111.
