Parks and Recreation Chapter

The Parks Chapter will aim to provide policy direction to:

  • Ensure parks and recreation access for a changing population
  • Position the city to leverage multiple funding sources to best manage capital improvement, operations and maintenance, and programming
  • Promote the health benefits provided by parks for residents of all ages
  • Take advantage of parks ability to provide environmental benefits
  • Maximize the potential of parks to contribute to vibrancy and sense of place
  • Reinforce the system of “green” connections within the city
  • Coordinate other Parks and city-wide plans to better position the city to implement Parks improvements

This list is not comprehensive or final – if you have additional thoughts on where the City should focus Parks policy, please let us know via Open Saint Paul or by contacting Mike Richardson, City Planner and Parks chapter lead staff, directly.
