Alternative Financial Establishments
On March 10, 2017, the Saint Paul Planning Commission released the Alternative Financial Establishment Zoning Study for public comment. The study recommends amending the existing alternative financial establishment provisions in order to simplify the language and add specific loan types to the definition. The proposed amendment will make it possible for businesses with a regulated lender license or an industrial loan and thrift license to be considered a different use so long as they do not offer consumer short-term loans or consumer small loans. Neighborhood Committee report provides additional information on the recommendations.
A public hearing before the Saint Paul Planning Commission was held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the City Hall Conference Center.
All comments regarding the study were reviewed at this hearing.
