Environmental Assessment

Programs

Ford Motor Company has enrolled the Twin Cities Assembly Plant site in the following two programs with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). All reports and press releases posted below relate to Ford's participation in these programs. Explanations of each program are provided below. MPCA Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup (VIC) MPCA Petroleum Brownfields Program

Schedule

Environmental assessment activity began at the site in 2007.  Testing around and under buildings occurred as soils were exposed, and tests and activities were documented and reviewed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.  A history of the environmental testing, reports and remediation activities are documented in the complete list of "Reports/Work Plans" below.

Comprehensive site wide testing of the 122-acre Ford parcel concluded in Spring 2016.  Environmental remediation work has begun and will continue over the next couple of years.  Additional spot testing and remediation work plans will be undertaken as necessary if new findings are made during the remediation process.

Ford's 22-acre river parcel, containing "Area C", has undergone soil boring tests and has wells installed for periodic sampling and water quality monitoring.  Information on "Area C" is included in the list of documents below.
