The Saint Paul Police Department uses social media to communicate with the community and provide timely information about the department, police action and public events.

The department hears from people on social media all the time who have questions, concerns and ideas about improving policing. We’re listening and we want to keep the conversation going.

SPPD uses technology to make our communities safer

The Saint Paul Police Department informs the community through its Emergency Notification System. The department has partnered with Ramsey County to alert residents of local emergency situations by landline phone. Residents of the City of Saint Paul may also sign up to receive these notifications by text message, e-mail or cell phone at one or multiple locations. Sign up to receive alerts here:

SPPD is committed to excellence

Chief Axtell has directed the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) communications team to continually review best practices for formalizing technology-based communication.

The SPPD is dedicated to communicating with our community through social media outlets.  The department shares far more with the community on important topics such as:

  • crime trend / awareness information
  • engagement opportunities
  • SPPD in the news
  • department initiative
  • soliciting community assistance
  • current (police) events
  • recruitment and job opportunities
