The Saint Paul Police Explorer Post gives city youth (ages 14–20) hands-on experience in law enforcement activities. Utilizing the nationally recognized Learning for Life curricula, this afterschool program includes one-on-one long-term mentoring from volunteer officers, builds leadership skills and gives young people the opportunity to serve their community. Experience as an Explorer opens up a world of career possibilities—in law enforcement and beyond.

History
The Saint Paul Police Explorer Post #454 is sponsored by the Saint Paul Police Department and is affiliated with the Exploring Division of the North Star Council, Boys Scouts of America. As an explorer, you will receive scenario-based training. Explorers travel to state and national competitions and conferences to test their new skills against other posts.
Upon completion of required trainings, Explorers assist the Saint Paul Police Department, the City of Saint Paul and its citizens in providing for the safety and order of our community. As part of this Explorer Post, you can volunteer to assist the police department with events such as the St. Paul Winter Carnival, The Minnesota State Fair, and The Taste of Minnesota.
Requirements:
- Between the ages of 14 and 20
- $70.00 fee (payable to Boy Scouts)
- Assistance available if needed
Training:
- Basic first-aid & CPR
- Minnesota State Statutes & St. Paul City Ordinances
- St. Paul Police Department Policy and Procedures
- Scenario based training in 12 law enforcement related topics
Meetings:
- Held at the Richard Rowan Training Center building. 600 Lafayette Road
- Every Tuesday night from 5:30-8:30p.m.
