Sewer Project: Kittsondale Storm Tunnel Repairs (Phase I)

The Kittsondale storm tunnel system serves a large area of Saint Paul. Saint Paul Sewer Division will be doing needed maintenance and repairs in portions of the tunnel system in the coming years to ensure the effective use and operations of the system.

Beginning November 25, 2019, the city's contractor will begin tunnel repair work. The work area and equipment will require the closure of Carroll Avenue from Wilder Avenue to the mid-block alley access for the entire project. The project is scheduled to be completed by May 1, 2020.

Scheduled work sites and project timelines:

Carroll and Wilder Avenue Work Site

  • November 25, 2019 - March 30, 2020
  • Close Carroll Avenue from Cleveland to Wilder
  • City contractor is responsible for snow removal to next nearest intersection

Mississippi River Boulevard Work Site (between Pelham and Dayton)

  • December 9 - 13, 2020
  • Close Mississippi River Boulevard from Pelham to Dayton
  • City contractor is responsible for snow removal to next nearest intersection

Ashland and Syndicate Work Site

  • December 9, 2019 -  May 1, 2020
  • Closure of North Syndicate from Ashland to Laurel
  • City contractor is responsible for snow removal to next nearest intersection

Traffic Impact

  • Carroll Avenue from Wilder Avenue to mid-block alley access will be closed.
  • Alley access will be maintained
  • Sidewalks will remain open and accessible.
