The 2021 Downtown Sidewalk and Paving Improvement Project (Phase III) is one project with two unique project areas (purple and green) that have different Public Works Project Managers and slightly different timelines and approaches using City contractors.

Description
The Downtown Paving and Sidewalk Improvement project is in the third year of a three-year paving program to improve the condition of downtown Saint Paul streets and sidewalks. The construction work will:

  • Perform a mill and overlay of downtown streets (removing the current pavement and installing new asphalt).

  • Remove the brick pavers from parking lanes and sidewalks in designated areas (see map) and replace with concrete.

  • Replace concrete sidewalk panels and curbs that are broken or in disrepair.

  • Construct ADA-compliant curb ramps at intersections to improve pedestrian safety.

  • Make additional pedestrian safety improvements at identified intersections.
