Mayor Melvin Carter Announces Task Force Members for Saint Paul Children’s Savings Account
 

SAINT PAUL, MN – Mayor Melvin Carter announced the names of the 30 members joining the Children's Savings Account (CSA) Task Force. The new team will lead community engagement, program design, and make recommendations on how to fund and implement a future CSA program.

The members – which represent the span of public, non-profit and private sectors, include community advocates, executives, politicians, youth, and educators. A majority of the membership are women, people of color and indigenous. The task force members will play a critical role contributing their diverse perspectives to ensure the CSA program meets the needs of the community.

The CSA Task Force will engage stakeholders from a variety of sectors including colleges, businesses, banks, birth centers, and community organizations. The group will explore and evaluate community feedback, funding mechanisms, program delivery, and financial empowerment education. The new team will meet every other month and hold additional subcommittee meetings with stakeholders throughout the year. Recommendations by the task force will be forwarded to Mayor Carter and the Saint Paul City Council in January 2019.
