Mayor's statement on rising graduation rates
SAINT PAUL--Mayor Chris Coleman released the following statement today regarding the Minnesota Department of Education’s announcement of improved graduation rates across the state, and particularly in Saint Paul:
“Today’s announcement is proof positive that the hard work of our teachers and administrators is yielding real results,” Mayor Chris Coleman said. “I applaud the collaboration of partners who came together to make this possible. We still have much work to do, and I have all confidence that, together with our community and district, we will continue to make substantive progress in closing Saint Paul’s achievement gap.”
Today’s graduation announcement included a rise in Saint Paul’s overall graduation rate by 5.25 percent last year, and almost 13 percent since 2009.
Mayor Coleman also sent a letter today to Superintendent Silva and Saint Paul Teacher’s Federation President Mary Cathryn Ricker regarding their ongoing labor contract negotiations. View the letter here.
