Tou Saiko Lee

Reflections and Expressions: Tou SaiK Lee will be presenting on his experiences growing up through the 90s gang era. This includes moving from Syracuse, NY to St. Paul, MN at 12 years old, being involved with gangs and his time being locked up in a juvenile institution. Tou SaiK will also mention his path to giving back to community, utilizing arts for social change and becoming a positive influence. Tou SaiK will also facilitate former Southeast Asian gang members and affiliates that that he invited to have a circle discussion with newer refugee arrival Karen Youth. They will be having honest talks about the hardships of growing up between two cultures, negative influences and what they did to overcome their struggles in a safe space. 

Creativity to Breathe: This section will have interactive activities inspired from the previous discussion. They will talk music and the influence it can have on every generation. Tou SaiK will have all participants do warm up exercises. They will then freewrite song lyrics and come together to create meaningful music. There will be writers, producers and musicians to help support all participants. They will then have opportunities to be recorded in the studio on the second day and connected to resources in the future.
