Concerns about avian influenza ("bird flu") and the potential of it causing an influenza pandemic are generating a lot of public interest. To date, no incidents have been identified in Minnesota.
No one knows when or if avian influenza will become a health issue, but it is important to
understand the difference between avian and pandemic influenza.
Efforts are currently underway to ensure the City of Saint Paul is prepared for a possible influenza pandemic, including efforts to provide for people's health care needs and maximize the availability of vaccines and antiviral drugs.
