Lifeguard Training
Junior Lifeguard Program (ages 10 through 14)
Saint Parks and Recreation offers a Junior Lifeguard program to educate youth on water safety and skills necessary to become a lifeguard. Participants will gain valuable first-hand experience, including how to enforce pool rules and regulations, how to scan the water for potential trouble, how to use safety equipment, how to follow emergency action plans, and how to operate and maintain the cleanliness of a pool. Junior Lifeguard classes are offered at Como Regional Park Pool, Great River Water Park, and Highland Park Aquatic Center.

Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program

The City of Saint Paul and Ramsey County are offering a challenging yet exciting approach to lifeguard training. The Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program (ILTP) is a unique, state-of-the-art training program that teaches essential lifeguard skills, including First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Emergency Oxygen Support, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and much more. Those who complete the training have the potential of becoming employed by City of Saint Paul or Ramsey County as a certified lifeguard. The registration fee covers the sessions as well as an ILTP Completion Card and an ILTP textbook.

Participants in the training program must be 15 years old by the end of the class. All classes will be held at either Great River Water Park or Como Regional Park Pool.

Classes will be held:
Monday, June 2 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, June 3 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday June 4 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.


*Cost: $60.

The first class will be held at Great River Water Park, and the schedule for the next two days will be given then. Please come to class prepared by bringing a proof-of-age document, swimming suit, towel, writing utensil, and notebook. Padlocks are also recommended to securely store contents in lockers. Be prepared to swim for the majority of every class.
