Mark your calendars, Saint Paul’s annual Citywide Spring Cleanup event has been scheduled for April 12. The event, which has been held annually for nearly 30 years, has helped bring more than 60,000 volunteers together to remove almost 500,000 pounds of trash from Saint Paul's parks, streets, and neighborhoods.
During the event, which will go from 8:30 - 11 a.m., families, groups, and individuals can pick up supplies at one of the city’s five kick-off locations. Following a brief program at each location, volunteers will be able to select a park, recreation center, or neighborhood of their choice to pick up trash. Although pre-registration is not required, residents interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign-up ahead of time at: www.tinyurl.com/2014cleanup
“It’s that time of year again where our parks, city streets, and neighborhoods could use a good spring cleaning,” Parks and Recreation Director Mike Hahm said. “With the brutal winter we just had, and the snow just starting to melt, there’s going to be a lot of trash that needs to be picked up, so this year's event is especially important.”
The five kick-off sites where volunteers can pick-up supplies during the event will be located at:
Como Lakeside Pavilion (1360 N. Lexington Pkwy)Highland Pavilion (1200 Montreal Ave)Phalen Pavilion (1600 Phalen Dr)Indian Mounds Shelter (10 Mounds Blvd)Harriet Island – Kelley’s Landing Pavilion (200 Dr. Justus Ohage Blvd)
