Q. How is Right Track YJ2 different from YJ1?
A. Right Track YJ2 offers paid internships in business, management, administration, finance, healthcare, law, and more. Right Track YJ2 internships are with some of Saint Paul’s largest employers including US Bank, Xcel Energy, Region’s Hospital, the State of Minnesota, and many more. Right Track YJ2 interns also receive weekly skills training during the summer.
Q. How do I know if I’m eligible for YJ2?
A. YJ2 interns must be 16 years old by June 1 and no older than 21. Sophomores, juniors, and graduating seniors are all encouraged to apply. You must also have 100 or more hours of work or volunteer experience OR participate in a trade focus program through your school. Click here to see all eligibility requirements for YJ2.
Q. What kind of internships are available through YJ2?
A. Right Track YJ2 internships are offered at dozens of Saint Paul businesses like Keystone Community Services, Xcel Energy, Ecolab, the University of Minnesota, and many more. YJ2 internships can be in an office setting and involve entry-level administrative work, out in the field directly working with the community, or involve more technical skills such as working in the automotive field.
Q. How much do Right Track YJ2 internships pay? How many hours will I work?
A. It depends on where you get placed. Right Track YJ2 internships pay a minimum of $15.00 per hour but many employers pay their interns more. YJ2 interns can expect to work anywhere from 15 to 40 hours per week depending on the position.
Q. What can I do to prepare for a YJ2 internship?
A. Create a resume and practice interviewing with a parent, teacher, or friend. You will need to interview for your position. You are encouraged to list any and all volunteer experience you've done through school clubs and academic groups. Many of our positions are in an office setting - test your knowledge of common computer skills by going to the NorthStar Digital Literacy website and taking practice tests.
