Weekly Collection
Seasonal Yard Waste Service includes a 64-gallon yard waste cart and up to eight compostable bags or bundles collected each week.
2025: The Yard Waste Collection season has closed. Please take your yard waste to one of the free Ramsey County Yard Waste Drop-Off Sites listed below.
2026: The deadline to enroll in the 2026 Yard Waste Subscription program is January 31, 2026. Carts will be delivered in early spring and collection will begin on April 13. The annual subscription fee is $160. Invoices for yard waste are mailed separately from garbage bills. In 2026, yard waste invoices will be mailed in April as part of the Quarter 1 billing cycle. Bills are sent as assessments and can be viewed online at stpaul.gov/assessments.
- Note: If you subscribed to weekly Yard Waste Service in 2025, you are automatically enrolled for 2026. No action is needed. Please store your cart for the winter.
Cancellations: If you subscribed to Yard Waste Service in 2025 and wish to cancel for 2026, the deadline is February 28, 2026. After this date, annual charges may apply.

One-Time Pick-Ups
Starting April 13, 2026, requests for one-time yard waste pickups can be made for $4.25 per bag or bundle. Pick-up must be scheduled in advance. We require at least two business days' notice prior to your regularly scheduled garbage collection. Contact the Solid Waste & Recycling Team using the online form or by phone.
Yard Waste must be placed in a compostable bag or tied bundle next to your garbage cart ($4.25 per bag/bundle). See below for details.
Preparing for Collection
- Yard waste collection is the same day as your garbage collection. For one-time pick-ups, contact the Solid Waste & Recycling Team at least two business days in advance to schedule.
- Place yard waste out by 6 a.m. on collection day. Keep three feet of space around your yard waste cart or bundles.
- All yard waste must be placed in a yard waste cart or a certified compostable bag.
- Yard waste bags or bundles cannot exceed 40 pounds or two feet in diameter and three feet in length.
- Tie bundles with twine or another compostable material.
- Not accepted: tree stumps, dirt, or rocks, and woody items more than three inches wide or three feet long.
- Yard waste service is not available as walk-up service.
