Work for Saint Paul Parks and Recreation! Full, part time, and seasonal/temporary positions are available at parks, rec centers, pools, golf courses, athletic complexes, Phalen Park Beach, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory and more. Entry level positions are available for ages 15 and up.

  • Lifeguard (To apply, contact: parksaquatics@ci.stpaul.mn.us )
    • Monitor patrons in water, provide first aid, teach swim lessons and/or water aerobics, and teach water safety.
  • Climbing Wall Driver (To apply, contact courtney.lovelace@ci.stpaul.mn.us)
    • Travel around Saint Paul to various locations to deliver and set-up/take down roaming climbing wall, harness participants, and engage with community members at local events. Must have driver's license and complete training.
  • Community Recreation Leader (To apply, submit an application via the online portal.)
    • Work with youth at recreation centers leading games, activities, and off-site field trips, work citywide events at a variety of park locations, drive gaming truck to help community play on different gaming consoles, safely assist in harnessing community members at the climbing wall, and more.
  • Harriet Island and Citywide Event Staff (To apply, contact harrietisland@ci.stpaul.mn.us)
    • Assist with weddings, festivals, walks/runs, and events, provide excellent customer service, and work with a team and independently at Harriet Island and other Saint Paul parks. 
  • Park Worker I (To apply, submit an application via the online portal.)
    • Positions at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, Highland National Golf Course or with the Operations/Maintenance team. Duties vary based on location but generally include set-up/break down for daily events and rentals, custodial duties, lawn care, clean and operate equipment, and general maintenace of parks, grounds, and buildings. Higher pay rates for working nights/weekends and having a driver's license.

  • Como Zoo Attendant 
    • Help connect visitors to the natural world. Interpret Como's plant and animal collections, provide first aid, deliver public programs, and work events.
