Quarterly Garbage Bills from the City of Saint Paul are Legitimate
GARBAGE COLLECTION INVOICE & FINAL NOTICE: The first garbage hauling bill for April 1 - June 30 service was mailed on July 31. This bill was due on September 1. If a payment was not posted to your bank account by September 5, you were sent an Invoice and Final Notice. This notice was sent to the same address that the Quarter 2 2025 bill was mailed to.
LATE FEES: The City does not charge late fees for garbage assessments, however if the unpaid bill is unpaid by mid-November, it will be transferred to Ramsey County, and a fee will be applied.

HOW TO PAY THIS ASSESSMENT:
- Online: One-time payments can be made using the Assessment Payment Portal. Please scroll to the bottom of the page to find the one-time payment button to pay with a check, debit, or credit card at stpaul.gov/assessments.
- Mail: Checks or money orders can be written out to CITY OF ST PAUL - ASSESSMENTS and mailed to:

- You will need an Access Code the first time you log in. This will be provided on your paper bill.

YARD WASTE BILLS: Residents who have opted to sign up for additional yard waste services received a separate mailed invoice from the City of Saint Paul a few weeks ago. Yard Waste is billed separately from garbage collection services. THIS IS A VALID BILL FROM THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL. If your Final Notice is in the amount of $119.06, it is the for unpaid Yard Waste Subscription bill.
Bills are available online and can be viewed and paid now at stpaul.gov/assessments with check or credit/debit card. Autopay is also available.

BILLS FROM PREVIOUS HAULER: The last bill due to the previous hauler was January 2025. If you had autopay set up with your previous hauler, you will need to re-enroll in the City's Autopay service. See below for instructions on setting up Autopay.
Quarter 2 Garbage Bills: Frequently Asked Questions
On April 1, 2025, the City of Saint Paul began a new garbage hauling contract for homes with 1-4-units. Garbage bills are now processed through the City of Saint Paul Assessments Office. Bills will be mailed quarterly in the month following a service period. The first garbage bill for 2025 was mailed July 31 for April-June services. Payments are due September 1.
Customer Service: All customer service needs for garbage and recycling are handled by the City. This includes missed collection reports, billing questions, cart repairs, and all other waste-related inquiries.

Bulky Item & Mattress Collection
You can get a limited number of bulky items (too large to fit in your cart) picked up for no additional charge with your regular collection. You can have more bulky items collected for a fee.
All households get unlimited free mattress collection through our mattress recycling program.

Food Scraps & Yard Waste
Food scraps (organics) and yard waste (leaves, grass clippings, branches) can be recycled into compost:
- Sign up for yard waste collection or bring it to a drop-off site.
- Get compostable bags for food scraps. Bring full bags to a drop-off site.
- Turn yard waste and food scraps into compost in your own backyard.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off
Many everyday items are dangerous if not disposed of safely. These are called hazardous waste. Common examples include:
- House paint
- Batteries
- Motor oil
- Syringes
- Medications
Hazardous waste cannot go in your garbage or recycling cart. Safe disposal protects people and our environment.
Ramsey County collects hazardous waste at a year-round collection site. They also host seasonal collection events.

Event Recycling & Composting
Hosting an event in Saint Paul? We can provide containers for garbage, recycling, and food scraps.
You can borrow containers at no cost for public and private events, including:
• Block parties
• Family reunions
• Public events and festivals
Event organizers are responsible for disposing of any waste collected in these containers.
