The citywide garbage service is for all residential properties with 1-4 units per building. If you have a commercial business, multi-unit building with 5 or more units, or a mixed use (residential/commercial) building, you will need to set up garbage service using the open-market garbage system. Multi-unit and mixed-use buildings may also choose to Opt-In to the citywide garbage service.

Owners of commercial buildings, mixed-use and multifamily buildings with 5 or more units may contract for garbage collection service under the open-market system, using one of the haulers licensed with the City of Saint Paul.
