Interested in volunteering in the natural areas of Saint Paul? Want to learn ecological restoration techniques, plant identification, and make a difference in your community?
Join fellow stewards in caring for the lands, waters, plants, and animal relatives of Wakáƞ Tipi by lending a helping hand at Restore! habitat restoration events. Each spring, summer, and fall, you can take part in various seasonal activities such as displaced species (invasive species) management, native seed collection and sowing, planting of plant plugs, and brush cutting and hauling. These events, hosted in partnership with Wakaŋ Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi, are intended for individuals or small groups to help restore this park and be community stewards in the preservation of the Dakota sacred site, Wakáŋ Tipi.
Restore! workdays are held one Tuesday evening and Saturday morning a month, and are led by volunteer Restoration Supervisors, staff from Wakan Tipi Awaŋyaŋkapi, or Saint Paul Parks and Recreation - Natural Resources staff. Workday leaders will meet you at the park, teach you about the project, and supply all tools needed. Come and learn about one of Saint Paul's most historic and culturally significant parks!
More details about the workday are located on the registration webpage.
