Saint Paul police are investigating after a woman in her 50s was found dead inside her Summit Hill condo on Monday, Aug. 30.

Officers were called to a condominium on the 300 block of Ramsey Street just before 11 a.m. after family members checking on the woman’s welfare found her deceased. The officers secured the scene and called the Ramsey County medical examiner, who also responded and informed officers that the death appeared suspicious.

Now investigators are working to determine how and why the woman died.

The police department’s forensics services unit is processing the scene for fingerprints, physical evidence or anything else that can help bring clarity to how the woman died. In addition, a team of homicide investigators has begun the process of interviewing people who knew the victim, looking for possible witnesses and trying to piece together what happened in the moments before, during and after her death.

As of Monday afternoon, no motive has been determined, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 651-266-5650 or Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at 800-222-8477.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the woman’s exact cause of death and positively identify her. That information, along with any updates in the case, will be released on the police department’s Twitter page, @sppdmn.

This is the 22nd homicide of the year in the city.
