West 7th Temporary Pedestrian Improvements

We are testing pedestrian improvements on West 7th Street. Three pedestrian crossing locations have been selected for temporary improvements in 2019:

  • Goodrich Avenue: bumpout on southeast corner (modified from 2018 test)
  • Perlman Street: center pedestrian island on the west side of the intersection (installed in 2018)
  • Toronto Street: center pedestrian island through the intersection and bumpouts on northwest and southeast corners (new test for 2019)

We are not expecting significant disruption due to these temporary pedestrian improvements. The center pedestrian island at Toronto Street will prevent all left turns at the intersection.

The temporary improvements, consisting of flexible delineators, were installed in July 2019. We will remove elements that cannot stay up during the snow season in November 2019. There currently is not funding allocated to make these temporary improvements permanent.

These are test installations and your feedback  will help inform future design of the West 7th Street corridor. If you have traveled through the Toronto Street intersection, please share your thoughts in a 3-minute survey. The survey is now closed.

The Toronto Street test will be removed in November 2019. Goodrich Avenue and Perlman Street tests will be left in place for now.
