Saint Paul police are investigating the city’s 35th homicide of the year after a man was stabbed and killed Thursday, Dec. 2.

The Ramsey County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call reporting the assault just before 8 p.m. and dispatched officers to a house on the 1700 block of East Seventh Street, which is on the city's East Side. That’s where they found a man in his 20s suffering from an apparent stab wound.

The responding officers secured the scene, rendered aid and summoned Saint Paul Fire medics, who transported the victim to Regions Hospital where he later died.

Now, investigators with the department’s homicide, forensic services and video management units are working to piece together what led to the altercation and who is responsible for the man’s death. Investigators do not believe the incident was random and say there is no immediate threat to the public at this time.

As of Thursday night, no arrests have been made. However, a person of interest has been identified. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The Ramsey County medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to positively identify the victim and determine his exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
