SAINT PAUL (Oct. 20, 2025) —The City of Saint Paul invites the community to celebrate the reopening of Grand Avenue on Tuesday, October 21, from 4-6 p.m. The event marks the completion of Saint Paul Public Works’ first Common- Cent project. The free community event will take place on the newly reconstructed stretch of Grand Avenue between Macalester Street and Wheeler Street, which will remain closed to traffic and parking until later that evening. The event will include live music from the Fat Chance Jug Band, family-friendly activities and games, and plenty of opportunity to stroll, dine, and shop along Grand Avenue and support the local businesses.

Fall themed activities include:

  • Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe

  • Sidewalk Chalk

  • Hay Bale Bowling

  • Parks & Recreation Gaming Truck

The Grand Avenue reconstruction project took city contractors six months to complete a four-block stretch along the vibrant business corridor, which also included several private construction projects happening at the same time. Grand Avenue from Snelling Avenue to Fairview Avenue will reopen to vehicle traffic by 11 p.m. on October 21.
