An early morning shooting in Saint Paul’s Como neighborhood left a man dead Monday, August 16.

At about 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Larpenteur Avenue, for multiple reports of shots fired. That’s where they found an unresponsive man, inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The officers immediately secured the scene, rendered aid and called for St. Paul Fire medics. Unfortunately, medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Now, investigators with the police department’s homicide unit are working to locate any possible witnesses to determine who pulled the trigger. Members of the forensics services unit will process the area for evidence and the video management unit will begin looking for nearby surveillance cameras.

As of Monday morning, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The victim’s identity, along with any updates in the case, will be released on the police department’s Twitter page, @sppdmn.

This is the 17th homicide this year in Saint Paul.
