Residents, Business Owners, Stakeholders, and Visitors,
We thank everyone for their continued patience as the work progresses on the Jackson Street Project. The preliminary utility work is wrapping up and soon we will move into Phase 1 of the reconstruction project.
Opening and Closing Update:
The Jackson Street and Kellogg Boulevard intersection will reopen temporarily around May 2nd. This intersection will remain fully open for approximately 6 to 8 weeks. The timing of the next closure will be dependent on the contractor beginning the work. We will provide more information about specific closing times as the contractor prepares to begin the work.
Xcel Energy is continuing their work to upgrade their utilities starting at Kellogg Boulevard and working towards 11th Street in 2016. This work will be happening at the same time as other work in the area.
Starting in mid-June through July, Jackson Street will be closed to through traffic and there will be no parking from Shepard Road to 11th Street. There will continue to be access to the parking ramps and businesses along Jackson Street.
Preview of the Work to Come:
Road reconstruction on Jackson Street will start at Shepard Road to 7th Place in 2016 (Phase 1), then from 7th Place to 11th Street in 2017 (Phase 2).
East-west cross streets including Kellogg Boulevard, 5th Street, 6th Street, and 7th Street will remain open to traffic with at least one traffic lane in each direction throughout the duration of the project. These intersections will be passable, but expect delays while crossing.
We will provide another update in May.
Other Projects in the Area:
Final work to complete the Kellogg Boulevard Bridge will be taking place between Market Street and Wabasha Street. This area will be closed for approximately 4 weeks starting around May 2nd.
