City of Saint Paul and Community Partners to Celebrate Wabasha Park Improvements
Common Cent sales tax funds support downtown park enhancements, including a new artfully designed shelter, improved lighting, restored Skygate sculpture and welcoming gathering spaces.
WHAT: The City of Saint Paul and community partners will celebrate the grand opening of the newly improved Wabasha Park, formerly Osborn Plaza, on October 13 at 12p.m. Local elected leaders and Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Director Andy Rodriguez will join community leaders for a short program featuring remarks and a celebratory ribbon cutting to mark the completion of the park improvements.
The project transforms the site into a more welcoming, accessible and inviting downtown gathering space. Guided by input from an advisory committee and led by the City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Design and Construction Team, improvements include upgraded landscaping and lighting, a new artfully designed shelter, the restoration of the Skygate sculpture, expanded seating, and improved circulation. Together, these enhancements create a more comfortable and flexible space for people to gather, relax and enjoy downtown.
The improvements to Wabasha Park are funded through the “Common Cent” program, Saint Paul’s voter-approved sales tax dedicated to improving city streets and parks.
