Today, Mayor Carter shared updates on the City of Saint Paul’s digital security incident, reiterating a commitment to the safety of residents and the security of information infrastructure.
“Our teams are working tirelessly to do what needs to be done in real time,” said Mayor Carter. “They are leading an aggressive, whole-of-government effort focused on the restoration of city services and upholding the trust of those we serve.”
On Friday, the city’s cybersecurity protection systems detected suspicious activity on its internal network, prompting a robust response and investigation into what Mayor Carter called deliberate and coordinated actions. Alongside local, state, and federal partners, the city continues its efforts to investigate the incident and bring systems back online.
These efforts have:
Supported an intensive forensic investigation into the digital security incident
Maintained the integrity of public safety and emergency response services
Ensured all city employees will be paid on time
Restored customer service lines for Library, Parks and Recreation, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, Safety and Inspections, Regional Water Services, and Mayor’s Office, with the remainder coming back online in the coming days
