Saint Paul police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead during the midday hours of Saturday, April 18.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Minnehaha Ave. E. on a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they identified a crime scene and were told by witnesses that possible victims from the shooting left the area in a red van. Officers located a van matching the description in the area of Bradley Street and Bush Avenue.

Two male victims were found in the van. Officers called for Saint Paul Fire paramedics to respond and began to render aid. St Paul Fire paramedics arrived and pronounced one victim dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to Regions Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury to the arm. Officers secured both crime scenes and began looking for witnesses and any evidence of the crime.  

The department’s Forensic Services Unit will be processing the scene and investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting and who is responsible. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 651-266-5650.

The Ramsey County medical examiner will positively identify the victim and determine an exact cause of death. This information, along with any updates on the case, will be released on the Saint Paul Police Department Twitter account, @sppdmn.
