Just after 9 p.m., officers were called to the island located at 2 South Wabasha Street on a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male who was suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. Officers provided first aid until Saint Paul medics arrived and transported the male victim to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Officers secured the scene and located possible witnesses. Preliminary information indicates that a large group of people had gathered on Raspberry Island. It’s reported that an altercation occurred, and shots were fired. Homicide investigators will be working to determine what led to this incident and who is responsible. The Forensic Services Unit will be processing the scene for evidence and the video management unit will be canvassing the areas for cameras that may have captured what occurred.

This is the 23rd homicide of 2023 in Saint Paul.
