SAINT PAUL - Today, Mayor Melvin Carter announced a community panel selection process for the Human Rights & Equal Economic Opportunity Department Director and Emergency Management Department Director.

“At the start of my administration, we engaged in a community panel process to ensure a wide array of voices helped to shape who leads our city departments,” said Mayor Melvin Carter. “I look forward to engaging residents again to ensure the leaders we choose to move our city forward reflect our shared values.”

About the Community Panel Selection Process
Two community panels will be formed, one to review each position, and will be comprised of community members, policy experts, and civic leaders. Interested community members can apply to serve on a panel. Applications to be a community panel member are open now and close on September 14, 2018.

The panels will begin the candidate review process on November 1, 2018. Once they finish their review process, their recommendations and evaluations will be submitted to the Mayor for final consideration and selection, with the goal to appoint new directors in January 2019.

About the HREEO Director and Emergency Management Director Positions
Applications for these two leadership positions will be posted online on September 4, 2018 at www.stpaul.gov/jobs. Job postings will close at 4:30 PM Central Standard Time on October 12, 2018.
